
Julie Ellen "Tawny", Kitaen, was an American actress, model and media persona. She was born on May 7, 1961 until May 7, 2021. Her career in acting on television started with Malibu (1983) as well as California Girls (1985). She also starred as Gwendoline in the comedienne film the Land of the Yik-Yak (both 1984) and Bachelor Party (1985). Kitaen received a lot of attention for her appearances in several heavy metal music videos, such as Ratt's "Back for More" (1984) and Whitesnake's "Still of the Night", "Is This Love" and "Here I Go Again" (all 1987).In the 2000s, Kitaen transitioned into appearing in reality-TV shows such as The Surreal Life (2006) and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008), the latter of which explored Kitaen's issues with substance abuse. Julie Kitaen was the youngest of three children, born in San Diego in 1961 to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor) who was an actress and former beauty pageant participant , as well as Terry Kitaen who worked for the business of neon signs. Kitaen was the daughter of a Russian-Jewish dad and a Scottish mother. Kitaen was educated Jewish. At the age of 12, she began to make use of the name "Tawny", which she invented on her own initiative. She was dyslexic when she was a kid and was subsequently kicked out of Mission Bay High School.
